we are starting our website migration to Interwoven, currently the website is running in ASP.NET/IIS, which will be migrated to our parent company framework, Interweoven.

We are also new to Interwoven and might want to learn and start migrating

So In Light of this, what are the steps we need to follow in order to get started. Please assist.

Hi,

Website(TS) Migration is very sensitive job. It needs lots of care. My advice is before doing the migration please follow the manual TS_Migration.pdf. All the steps for proper migration is given in this PDF.

you should be more specific in your question, I guess, e.g., let us know whether you will continue producing ASP. Also, will you be using the Form Publisher or not.

In general, I'd get a consultant for a few days to do a proper assessment and analysis.

Follow Greg's advice and get some help. You are in way over your head and can make some very costly incorrect decisions.

I beleive the controls will remain in your .net technologies.
you will create dll files.

In this you have to decide which part you donot want to modify using forms.Those parts can come directly for .net I mean that will not be generated using teamsite Presentations(PT).

Again your .net part which you want to generate using PT in this you will use .Net coding partly in tpl.

It is just a view from my side.

thanks for the response, we had a discussion with our parent company about migrating our website to Interwoven common platform, which they are using.

The outcome of this is our new website is going to look the same as our parent company website which is runnning in Interwoven, we will provide all the contents from the existing website, so that parent company website team will develop the new website for us and we maintain it.

Our parent company website is static, but our current company website has some database connection to certain webpages.

Are we still need to use the same database for the new website, but my parent company is saying there will not be any database.

Please advice

If your data is access by .net pages directly from old database not from inside templatedata data then you can use the previous database.

If it is coming from inside templatedata then I think previous database will not work.

Ignore the previous post(from bittu). There is no way anyone can come to a conclusion with the amount of information in the current thread.

There are many ways to implement .Net in TS. Decisions need to be made by someone with experience who understands the website architecture, and proposed use case for end users.

Go back the original replies and find someone who knows what they are doing and get some help.

Or ignore the directive and confinue to use whatever you are using. The odds of you getting this to work in an acceptable manner are slim to none.

In general senario asp developer will provide TS developer controls which he will use in tpl.

So asp page which are previously made can also be useful in TS.
