LDAP and Preview

Hi team,
We are using teamsite 6.5 sp1. We tried to authenticate teamsite with ldap or local. When we accessed the Teamsite with OS password and the LDAP server was down, Then it took a long time to preview generated HTML files and preview DCRs. We configured ldap with following configurations.

[authentication]
authenticate_by=ldap,local
ldap_server=
ldap_port=
ldap_key=tsuserid
ldap_dnbase=dc=,dc=
ldap_account=cn=root
ldap_pwd=

Please tell the reason.....and what is the link between ldap being down and preview being delayed.

wht is the LDAP server used in?
is your Teamsite folder/branches access privileges are controlled by LDAP?
Are you having any customization module with LDAP while performing preview?
