PT compiling error

I have cretred a DCR of "search" datatype type. When I try to generate this DCR, I get an error
"An error occurred during PT compiling. Please see more details in log files."
Which log file shall I check to see whats wrong ?

Are you using XSLs or TPLs?

If it is truly in PT compiling (using a TPL) then iwhome/local/logs/iwutil_cmdout.log is where you may look.

Then check iwutil_cmdout.log as a start. However the information you get from there is limited.

You will likely need to run iwpt_compile from the command line (Unix shell) and see if you can debug.

FYI, the debug process can be tough, the errors are not always obvious.

Yeah - often you have to comment out / remove large chunks of the PT to get something that doesn't "fail" and then start putting back the original code is small chunks and testing each time in order to pinpoint the source of the failure - then you have to figure out why that piece of code is causing the failure.

It's not glamourous, it's not fun, but it's often the best (and ultimately quickest) way to debug PT problems...

I did solve the problem. I had removed an essential piece of code while getting rid of extra comments and codes.

But, as you friends suggested, when I ckecked in iwutild_cmdout.log file. There is nothing related to tpl related in that file. Everything I found was related to OpenDeploy only.

I checked iwutild.log also. But there was no entry for last 5 days.

so I would like to know, where to check for TPL errors ?

Often, there won't be any logs that you can look at for the PT compiling errors. You'll need to do the iwpt_compile.ipl from the command line, output it to a perl file, and then run that perl file to find out what the cause of the error is.
