Losing Extended Attributes

When files are being moved across branches in TS 6.5, the extended attributes are being lost. This issue is not consistent across all the files but happens to only a few files.

Any thoughts why this may be happening?

Could you please explain as details of that instance when you had lost the EA on your files? What steps you followed, etc?

Also, always mention your working environment (OS, TS version etc.) while posting a query.

I'm going to assume you are trying to copy/move your data through the OS/file system, which will strip the attributes.

If you are using TeamSite's "copy to..." (EDIT > Copy To...), all your EAs will remain intact.

Solaris 5.8.

The copy is being done from TeamSite UI.

Nope. The files are not being imported.

The copy is done from within the TeamSite UI (Edit --> Copy To). After the copy is complete, files within the source branch retain the EAs but the files within the target branch lose them.

Not sure if it matters, but just to make sure - are you copying to a branch within the same store or to a branch in a different store?

Is there any aspect of the names of the files that seem to lose their attributes (length, non-alpha-numeric characters, extension, etc.)?
Is it repeatable?
If so, is it always the same files that seem to lose their attributes?

You probably should open a case with Support, though if it is unreproducible it makes it pretty much impossible for them to debug it in-house.
