Has anyone tried or know if OpenDeploy can be used in a LPAR/WPAR configuration? We are rolling out Open Deploy 6.2.1 and running into issues with the rcvr disk destinations.

Didn't know if this is not supported or if it works?

As far as I know LPAR configuration supported by OD on AIX.

What exact issue you are facing with the rcvr disk destinations?

The official word from Support was it is not supported in production environments. We are trying to perform a proof on concept to see if it will work.

We can get od 6.2.1 to connect to the LPAR server but when we try to copy the files to the rcvr it cannot find the dir specificed. Assumption is we would need to put some additional information in the WPAR server to say this this filesystem.....

We get this error in the log file for the deployment
LIB: 2009-07-21 09:23:53 Receiver-ERROR: ERROR: Client specified bad local path

We validated on Server1 and Server2 the /etc/openDeployNG/log exist and they do....Just wondering if it anyone else got this to work...

Error :- Receiver-ERROR: ERROR: Client specified bad local path

Shows that the Source path provided is not proper...and not on target..ie. AIX WPAR side.

Does the path you specified in the "sourceFilesystem area" exist? (s Smiley Tongue

You can try deployment by changing the Source path to some local drive like C: or

and then try deployment.

Lets see it work for you to deploy on AIX path.

Have you verified that at least one of the following paths is registered as an allowed directory on the receiver for the sending server?

And also (if configured) verified that the receiver process was restarted after being so configured?By default, /etc/OpenDeployNG/tmp is usually included in the allowedDirectories section, but /etc/OpenDeployNG/log is not - so it would have had to be explicitly configured.

Thanks for the reply's.

I had two issues ... permissions were messed up on the source and destination directories. I also found the the destination was different on the two servers so the destination directory was invalid. I had etc/openDeployNG/ and the directory was actually called etc/OpenDeployNG.

Everything is working now, thanks for the help.
