Subsituting strings in file

cdoloriert

Hi,

I'm using the following command to replace values in files


system("C:/Applications/Interwoven/TeamSite/iw-perl/bin/iwperl -pi.bak -e $pattern $wfFile\n");

Where pattern is to find
my ($pattern) = qq("s#creator\=\"CAM\-ITS\-DEV\\tsadminuser\"#creator\=\"tmc\\cdoloriert\"#");

Basically I want to find creator="CAM-ITS-DEV\tsadminuser and replace it with creator="tmc\cdoloriert"

Alternatively, I would like to replace whatever is creator="..." I mean whatever it is in between the quotes with tmc\cdoloriert. I'm done similar substitutions in the past, but because now there are special characters, it's little trickier.

Any suggesitons?

I'm not sure why you don't just do this with basic Perl I/O - however - try the following change and see if it works:

my $pattern = qq('s/creator=".*?"/creator=tmc\\cdoloriert"/g');

Note the use of single-quotes instead of double-quotes surrounding the entire expression within the qq() and the lack of backslashes before all the double-quotes that appear within the pattern, also the use of the 'g' modifier so that the substitution occurs for all matches in a given line of input instead of just the first one.

The I/O method - which admittedly takes more lines, but less processes would be something like:

open(IN, '<', $fname) || die " '$fname' ($!)";
open(OUT, '>', "$fname.new") || die " '$fname.new' ($!)";
while (<IN>) {
    s/creator=".*?"/creator="tmc\\cdoloriert/g;
    print OUT;
}
close(OUT);
close(IN);
rename($fname, "$fname.bak") || die "[rename] '$fname' => '$fname.bak' ($!)";
rename("$fname.new", $fname) || die "[rename] '$fname.new' => '$fname' ($!)";
