Teamsite Preview Issues with .NET Applications

Hi there, we are having an issue with Previewing of .net applications in Teamsite.

Setup: Teamsite 6.7.1 SP1
Windows Server 2003 SP1
ASP .NET v2

Before we genertate the page we are trying to preview it, however we are being given the attached error.

Its appears that in some part of the preview process the filename is being truncated.

From the error the preview file that is being reqeusted is:

Requested URL: /iw-mount/default/main/external/www.ccc.govt.nz-2/WORKAREA/Development/htdocs/preview/1237511885554_yongk_preview.aspx

But the actual file in the preview directory is: zz_tst_yongk_0_1237511885554_yongk_preview.aspx

This issue is only effecting .net applications in the pre generation stage. Any file that has already been generated is previewing fine.

Can someone please help shed some light on this problem.

I believe Nipper has posted about this and written up some documentation expressly dealing with previewing of aspx pages in TeamSite...

There are a lot of things to doing .Net in TS.

Part of the confusion is what what really are you doing ? When people talk .Net, it may be .ASPX & .ASCX files, it may be aspx reading (and processing) XML files or DB entries, it may be compiled code, again reading ascx, XML or DB.

My WP talked about one specific case, ASPX and ASCX pages generated from templates.

It may help in this case. But 1st, can you put the actual "correct" url/filename in the browser ?

Do you have any proxy settings that may be affect this ?

When I edit the URL and make the file name the same as it is in the preview folder the page virtualise correctly without error.
It appears that URL is being rewritten to reference a file that does not exist.

We do not use a proxy server in regards to Teamsite.

I will have a search, but if you point me in the direction of Nippers Article on this topic it would be greatly appreciated.

I cannot remember the article ID, this is a post of the copy. But I doubt it will resolve your issue,

Now, I am not certain if you undertood my proxy question, check you iw.cfg file for iwproxy regex.

Are there any redirects in your TPL ?

Can you change your TPL to only include hello world and see if that works in preview ?

Something is quite funky, TS does not normally muck with the URL unless you want it to. So either something is happening (like iwproxy) or you have found some as of yet, unreported bug.

Sorry Nipper, you where correct I did not understand your question.

From our iw.cfg here is our proxy settings

[iwproxy]
iwproxy_host=localhost
customer_webserver_host=ccocms01.ccity.biz
iwproxy_port=1080
customer_webserver_port=81

Is it your thinking that this may be where the problems lies?

If so please point me in the direction of wither config files or documentation to read.

That file, but not those entries.

Something like

[iwproxy_preconnect_redirect]
_regex=^/iw-mount/default/main/.......

look for anything that starts with _regex and post that line along with the category (the bracketed entry above it)

Those are not looking correct to me. In fact your full proxy redirect is, to use a politically correct term, logically-challanged. Smiley Very Happy

I am not so certain about the 2nd either.

Comment out the _regex and 2nd line of iwproxy_remap

then restart iwproxy and try it.
