How to use the image preiview in jsp using URI

Hi all,
i am using mediaBinServerSoap.getPreview_DIME() to get the preview of the image. But it returns only uri string. How can i make use of that uri to get preview image? Do i need to store the preview image in repository? or can we get the preview image on the fly?
