is there a way through which we can restrict the maximum no of selections in a when it is set mulitple="t"?,going through pdf doesnt provide any clues ,any pointers regarding this?

yes you are right ,i am able to get this through multiple="t" but there is some req that user should be able to select only 3 values as in we should restict the user from selecting more than 3 values

i checked dtd for datacapture.cfg but only attirbutes for select are size ,mulitple,required

i guess i may have to follow form API path as told by nipper

Yes you can, but it needs to be done via FormAPI. onItemChange -> check the count of how many are selected
