TS672:Windows2003:iwserver crash
rajit
We have recently installed TeamSite 6.7.2 on Windows 2003 server along with OpenDeploy 6.2 and SitePublisher (nodatabase option).
The "iwserver" Windows service crashes as soon as the server boots up. Upon manually starting this service, it crashes again in a few seconds. There are no useful messages in any of the IW log files.
The Windows OS generates some dumps in folders with names such as 'WER94af.dir00' which are not very helpful either.
Did anyone face this issue? What could be the possible cause and a probable resolution? Any help in this is much appreciated.
Regards,
Rajit

Do you know what version of Windows 2003 you are running?

We experienced something like this when we installed TS 6.7.2 on a Windows 2003 64-bit os. When we replaced the OS with a Windows 2003 (Standard/Enterprise) OS we didn't have the problem any longer.
Talking with support they mentioned there has been no demand for support on 64-bit windows as of yet. But they were going to put it on the list of things to do.

Check Windows 2003 application log and event log. You might get some clue.
If you have serverside anti virus software running stop those services for testing.

btw.. Just make sure you have a valid license for 6.7.2.
Iwserver 6.7.2 doesnot start if you dont have a valid one.

Hi all,
Thanks for your replies.
The problem is solved now. It was apparently due to the fact that TS searches all available domains on startup, unless it is limited by an entry in iw.cfg (domain_list under [iwserver] section). After this entry was put, the server comes up fine and runs consistently.
