setFocus() not working in Ts6.7.2

Hi,

Im trying to set focus one of the item in dcr while loading.
i have taken a simple dcr and used " IWDatacapture.getItem("/XYZ/name").setFocus(); "
Nothing wrong in .js and dct, i believe.
irrespective of an item,its jus focusing the very first item in dct.
pf attached code
Pl provide any clues..!!

I believe it is NOT 0-based.

Specify the index as 0, or simply don't specify anything.

You may be right - I was just suggesting a possible idea to try. However, looking at the FormAPI documentation, I think you're right (or the documentation is wrong -- it's been a while since I've put together any FormAPI code):[indent]...

I think both of us are "some-what right" -- I just checked the docs. It is not zero-based. However, if you put in a 0 or any lower number it'll start with 1.

You may be trying to operate on the Form that is not completely loaded.
Delay a little like [post=121833]here[/post], see if that helps

Actually i don think could be time delay issue.bcoz i tried puttin some alert after "IWitem.setfocus()" statements and its throwing the same.
only thing is focus is not setting to reuired item.

try putting the alert BEFORE the setFocus() call. the time delay boris is talking about is the form not loading completely BEFORE it gets to the setFocus() call. So if you delayed before calling setFocus() then it might work.

Why don't you try? It may or may not help but then you will be knowing instead of "thinking"

Following up with ICSBorisB's suggestion.

Note: I put the javascript inside the DCT so that you'd have a fully working example. Pull the code out of and put it into your external js file like you're originally trying to do.

If it's still not working then you should check if your tennis.js file is where you think it is. I think you may have the pathing wrong. What's it's actual location? Put an alert in it and see if anything pops up. If not, then you need to fix the location of your script include.

That is incorrect. It will not work with the above.

Are you doing a new form entry or trying to edit a DCR ?

If editing a DCR check whether your container is loading in expanded or collaped mode.
If it is in collapsed mode then you might get this problem.

Good point. Here's code that will account for that. I'm sure there's some improvement that could be made to it. Clean it up if you like, change some names, yada, yada, yada.

You can configure the number of replicants expanded or collapsed in a container during form load. I think by default, if it is more than 3 the container will load in collapsed mode. I couldn't remember the file name. Check the docs.
Its a feature mainly to optimize the form loading time. So keep an eye on that criteria as well.
