Hyperlinking in Site publisher

liv2luv

Hello All, does any one tried to hyperlink a word which is in the middle of a paragraph? If you have done it, please let me know.

The approach I am following right now is, just added half the line before the hyperlink (using a datum type:string), added the text with hyperlink(datum type: pagelink) and finally added another datum type:string.

But I feel there should be an intelligent way of doing this.

Constraint is, the user does not want to have a datum type : textarea where he can actually specify a link

Liv,

Is this a link to an external site or to a livesite page? Also, is it LS 3.1 (TS 6.7.2)?

I've had a similar problem before, and I solved it like you did, so I'm interested in other people's suggestions. If they're external links, you can just use a rich text field (Type="Textarea") and create your links within the text. You can even use that and include $PAGE_LINK[pagename] in the href to link to internal pages, but if you're trying to create a reusable component that others can use, that's not a friendly as the PageLink picker UI because you have to manually type the path to your page, e.g. $PAGE_LINK[My Folder/My Page Name].

Stokes.

PS--I didn't read your post carefully to see your constraint about not wanting a textarea. So I guess we're back to the prefix/link/suffix approach. I'm not sure how else to go about it unless you want to use your own keyword substitution convention, e.g. a PageLink and a string field like "This is {my} text with a link", where you parse the string in XSL and insert the <a href=...> around the curly bracketed part.
