Dependencies in workflows

Hi All,

Is there a OOTB way to attach dependent files of a DCR namely images to the workflow automatically when the DCR is attached.

If you have SitePublisher installed then look at the OOTB PLC WF. It has a task called attach dependency task that will do exactly what you want. You'll have to use that task in conjunction with setting up some FormAPI stuff in your DCT itself. Again, if you are using SitePublisher and have the LiveSite/Content DCT then look at the FormAPI code in there.

If you are not using SP and do not have PLC WF then you'll have to custom create this functionality.

Since you do not mention SP/LS I assume these are standard DCRs. Also, I assume you are not using MediaBin (as that changes this somewhat)

You need to write an external task that will do common WF tasks. IMHO, they are find and attach any dependencies (flash, images, etc), generate appropriate page (instead of making the user do that) and attaching any other DCR that may need to be attached (i.e. if this were a press release then attach the index page since it needs to be regenerated).

This will be quite long and continue to grow over time, so take you time and do it right and portable.
