Folder Permissions question

Options

This is such a simple question but one that causes me grief every time.

We have a group of users who should be able to update content in only one folder (and sub folders). For example default/main/br/workarea/development/templatedata/primary/research/data/stocks (and below) If I create a new group in TS and allow that group to modify that folder they still can't because they can't update the parent. If I allow them to update the parent, then all folders below the parent are modifiable.

What am I doing wrong?

Comments

  • That does not sound correct. This is Linux ? What version of TS ?

Can you view the permissions via the shell ? Do you have a valid submit.cfg ? Is that overwriting the permissions of the directory ? Have you submitted any of this content ?

  • What about WORKAREA permissions?

  • There are a few questions that would help to clarify the problem:
    Is this Linux or Windows?
What version of TS is this?
After you add the group to stocks, are the members of that group not able to edit or create files in that folder and below?
What is the actual error if they get one?
What permissions do you end up giving the group on the parent folder to make it work?
