JS error

tech

Hi All,

Thanks in advance. I am trying to replace a value with another value inside the save function. I get the error message saying the save was unsuccessful. The alert(prodClass) returns a value 1,2. i need to replace 1 with A. can anyone tell me if there is a mistake in the below code?

Thanks

var prodClass = IWDatacapture.getItem("/prodClass").getValue(); alert(prodClass);
var part_num=0;
var label
var newstr = prodClass.replace("1", A);alert(newstr);

Either your JS code has obvious errors or the formatting got messed up here on this post.

Hi,

thanks for the reply. the code works fine if I comment the below line.

var newstr = prodClass.replace("1", A);

Do you see any error in my code? I don't see any formatting issues here.

vpatel

What is A? Is it a number or a string or a variable?

tech

it is a string

vpatel

Shouldn't it be put in quotes?

hi,

I had modified the code. Still does not work. i tried with single quotes too.

var prodClass = IWDatacapture.getItem("/prodClass").getValue(); alert(prodClass);
var ClassA="A";
var ClassAdm="ADM";
var ClassB="B";
var ClassC="C";
var ClassD="D";
var ClassI="I";
var ClassM="M";
var ClassP="P";
var ClassR="R";

var savstr;
savstr = prodClass.replace("1", "ClassA");

vpatel

Try this:

var prodClass = IWDatacapture.getItem("/prodClass").getValue();
alert(prodClass);
var ClassA = "A";
var savstr;
savstr = prodClass.replace("1", ClassA);

Now that you have a variable called "ClassA" -- you don't need to quote that -- so I removed the ""s.

Hi,

I already tried it. Here is the result

Save was unsuccessful. Invalid category/type null was received.

Any other pointers?

This error could be coming from any where in your FormAPI code. You may have to do line-by-line debugging and try to isolate the problem. Good luck.

I am able to save it i comment the line wit hreplace function. I dont think there is an issue with rest of the code

CRB

you might wanna post your entire js code, there might something else that is causing it that line of code to not work.

tech

Here is the attachment. Please look for the onSave() function.

Post your datacapture.cfg and js. forum might look into it for detail debugging.

Guys thanks for the help. I was concatinating the strings and then did a replace, which worked. Anyways thanks for the help.
