Not able to start OD

Hi,

i have installed the OD reciever. it is coming up with root user but not coming up with the bootstarp user which i gave it during the installation.
i found below error

It seems that the product may not have been installed correctly.

Are you talking about starting the service or starting a deployment?

Probably permissions? Try to give the bootstrap user permission to the log files and directories in your od-home.

If you provide more information - product version? what you are doing? how you are doing it? what you are seeing on the command line? in the log files?, etc. - you would probably get assistance more quickly.

I think all of who are facing this issue, would have Livesite installed on your machine.

If your OD is failing to start and throws the below exception, you would need to make few changes in the odbase.xml

I also had this issue -- however I don't have LiveSite installed.

I commented out the similar information from odbase.xml as the previous poster suggested and it fixed the problem.

We seem to have the same error as the original thread creator.

We are unable to get our odreceivers to come up when starting as a non-root user. The ultimate goal is to run the odreceiver as a service running as a non-root user. We have followed the IWOV documentation to implement that.

I have double checked that the non-root user can write log files etc.. but we still get hte ***ERROR - Exception: CONFIG_FILE and the service doesn't come up.

Starting the OpenDeploy Server as root is successful.

I would guess that the "config file" being sought is the ODHOME/etc/odrcvr.xml file - which the owner of the OD process would have to have [at least] read-access for.

My guess is that something didn't go right when you ran the iwodnonroot CLT and that you should (a) try running it again, or (b) try re-installing the receiver from scratch and then try running the iwodnonroot CLT again - making sure to follow all the instructions in the manuals.

in the iwod60_boot_wrap to ensure that opendeploy was, in fact, stopped before trying to start it as the non-root user.

Glad that helped. You probably only want to make sure the S80iwod60's are linked to the iwod60_boot_wrap script and leave the K80iwod60's linked to the regular iwod60 script. Stopping the script as root is fine, but you want to make sure that a normal reboot will start is as your non-root user.
Also - you have to make sure that if someone goes in and manually stops/starts the OD process that they use the correct script to start it, so that it runs as the non-root user.
