I recently received email advertising the 2009 GearUp:[indent]GearUp 2009 is a series of one-day executive briefing events where Autonomy and Interwoven executives will share their vision for the future of information management with WorkSite and Discovery Mining customers and partners.[/indent]It was fairly clear that the primary interest of Autonomy was the WorkSite portion of Interwoven - but the above makes one (or at least me) wonder if Autonomy is planning to continue supporting the existing versions and/or new development for the other parts of Interwoven:

I've been watching the Autonomy/Interwoven purchase awhile now. Our company owns both Autonomy and Interwoven products. What I see is Autonomy integrating their products into Interwoven products. They've already made an announcement that MediaBin will use Virage for video/audio search from an the acquistion completion announcement:

"For Interwoven’s MediaBin customers, the MediaBin product will leverage Autonomy’s Virage Rich Media Management products, providing advanced audio and video search and analysis."

And TeamSite Search is going to be based on IDOL now (I'm still waiting for them to finalize how they're going to release this)

For the most part I don't see many products from Interwoven being dropped. Autonomy will integrate all their products into Interwoven's and where they have two products that do the same thing they'll drop Interwoven's in favor of Autonomy's (the one I'm watching is Eduction and Metatagger because I think they perform similar tasks).

What I'm most concerned with is the support side. I just received a note from a support person working on a current ticket that the current Case Center site on support.interwoven.com is gone and that they're going to have a new website next week. My guess is they're integrating Interwoven's support in with their customers.autonomy.com support site and there'll be one support center for all autonomy and interwoven products. Unfortunatley, I've used both and can say I liked Interwoven's sites better. I am curious what Autonomy will do with DevNet though because they've not had any kind of site like this. Definitely, no forums for users/developers to talk with each other about the products on Autonomy's side of things.

Anyway, all this (other than the stuff I quoted) is all speculation/opinion and we'll just have to wait to hear from Autonomy on what their plans are for Interwoven products, sites, and support. As I said in another post our Autonomy Rep says it takes them 6-8 months to fully integrate all their products into the products of the companies they purchase, and with how quickly they made the TeamSite/IDOL announcement I'd say their well on their way to get things done and updated.

Thanks for sharing your insights on some of your early interactions with Interwoven Autonomy.

I am excited about the Virage technology driving MediaBin. I think that once Adobde Graphics server was removed from the architecture, the product was going to flounder.

BTW, there is a partner based Webinar on May 22nd which will have Autonomy Interwoven provide a state of the union on their product mix going forward [roadmap] and where things currently sit in the integration process.
