I am getting that funky looking "A" with the line on top of it all over my pages developed in the visual editor.

the html code is its a blank space, but in the preview pages it shows that funky looking A symbol... my users are freaking out.

can i turn that off somehow?

sounds like a utf-8 problem. make sure you've got your encodings set properly.

Are you sure you are not getting JS err on loading of page ?

I have seen this in TS671 in VFE, there is this character by default in view source mode, it gets transformed from a default space character, you may need handle that in your tpl.
You can try with the default VFE config, if you have done some config changes in VFE.

You do not need to install anything for this, you can test this by changing the config file used in your datacapture.cfg. The VFE path on the server is < iw-home >\httpd\iw\...
and the default config file name is visualformatconfig.xml. I believe this remains same in TS672.

here is my datacapture.cfg file. its set to UTF-8, so do i need to check my visualformatconfig.xml file to make sure they both use the same encoding?

issue resolved, i had to change a line in the visualformatconfig.xml like Pawan suggested:

clean charencode="charref"

to:

clean charencode="utf-8"

i also added:
[html]
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;charset=utf-8" />
[/html]

to all of my .tpl files.
