Should LiveSite autostart ?

nipper

I installed 3.1.01 in Windows, also Tomcat.

However there does not seem to be an entry for LiveSite in control panel -> services. I can run LS from a DOS shell.

The manual says use run.bat

There has to be a better answer than that.

You can set it as a windows service Smiley Happy

. It is pretty straight forward.

You can use something like Windows Resource Toolkit or JavaService (http://javaservice.ow2.org/index.html) to build that service. I am sure there are probably other alternatives out there as well. I know JavaService works for sure.

Thanks VP, I figured you would respond.

I am shocked that this is not part of the product. My first LS project was Linux, so that is easy. Windows is a little more difficult.

Contact Support - there's an alternate version of some of the scripts that come with LS that you need to get from them, and run, in order to get LS to start as a service automatically.
From my Support Case (#704414) notes:

is aound 5K in size.

...A different version of LivesiteService.exe ...

LivesiteService.exe is just a renamed JavaService executable which is downloadable from the URL I provided earlier. You may already have this file under ls-home/runtime. Check it out and if its not there then you may download it directly from that site or you can contact support.

My LiveSiteService.exe is about 64KB, and there is no win.svc.bat so I will contact support.

Thanks guys
