TS 6.7.1 Running on Microsoft
OD 6.0.2 Running on Microsoft
Target:
OD Receiver 6.2 on Unix Sun.

Can this be done:

From a deployment script. I've got multiple definition (6): Right now all of the files is deployed properly with a specific owner/group for all of the files (user=iwoven group=iwoven)

Can I force it to be deploy to a different user/owner on the target per definition?

If not I will use DNR to fix it after deployment.

Your guidance will be appreciated.

If the receiver is running as 'root' - you should be able to specify permissionRules to set the user/group information on either a per-definition basis or a per-target-receiver basis.

Restrictions When Running as Non-Root
The following tasks can not be completed when running OpenDeploy as non-root on a
UNIX host because these tasks typically require root authority:
--

Deploying to a target directory associated with someone other than the OpenDeploy process owner.

This being said if the user has the proper rights can this be overcome?

I will read about the ACL approach.

No - if you're running as non-root - you MUST have the permissionRules setting with with

user="_iwod_user_"

and

group="_iwod_group_"

- and a DNR script probably won't help because the script will be run by the same user who owns the process (and who is not root) and therefore probably won't have sufficient privileges to chown/chgrp the files that were just deployed -- unless the DNR script/program is setuid-root (your security team will "love" that) - which would then beg the question of why use that instead of running OD as root...
