Livesite and ATG eCommerce server

I am using TeamSite and SitePublisher for the page creation for an eCommerece site with complete shopping cart capability. The option we are debating is on the runtime. Should we use Livesite or ATG commerce server alone as the runtime engine. Can we use the ATG commerce server and deploy the Livesite application within the same container.

Please if somebody has done a similar integration and has some pointers, recommendation or suggestion to share.

Is the ATG server a compliant servlet container?
If so which servlet-api version does it support?
