Current Status of a DCR

Hi All,

We have a Requirement where we need to capture the Current Status in which a DCR is at any point of time.
For example, when a DCR is initially saved, we need to set the status as an extended attribute i.e. metadata field 'Saved'.Once we initiate a workflow,the status should get updated to 'Pending', then depending on the action taken by the Reviewer, it gets has to get updated to 'Approved' or 'Pending'. Finally when it gets submitted to staging its status should get updated to'Submitted'.

We are planning to achive this by using an ipl/external task which is called in the workflow each time an action is taken on the content.
Has someone done this earlier?
Is there any other simple way to capture the Status.

Never have done this (not really certain that it is overly useful, but that is for you to decide).

Doing it should not be tough.

Set a trigger when a DCR is created or modified change/add EA to saved.

The rest do in the workflow.

Just make certain that you set the EA to Submitted before you actually run the submit task.

BTW, do you know that EAs are not a cheap transaction to execute? If you submit 500 DCRs at once there will be a significant delay and spike in the CPU on your server.
