I have modifies a file from UI. When I click on "Compare to Staging" , I get an error "Page can not be found". Why is that ?

Are you getting the version list of that particular file, when you do File >> Versions from the menu? Also please provide info as by what method you are trying to compare the file?

What happens when you simply click on this file Name in CCPro Workarea Panel? Normally that opens the File
in "View" Mode. If you have 404 "Page can not be found" you probably have Virtualization issues and have to look
into your Proxy Server settings. "File Compare" in "Visual" mode is simply a frameset with two frames, URLs are
similar to the one that you get trying to view single File. Fix standard "View" and that'll fix "Compare View".

To compare version: File->Properties->Versions(upper right)->Compare to Staging | Compare to Current Version.
Note that even if "Visual" errors with 404 you can usually switch to the "Source" Tab.

I dont thinh, I got everything that you are trying to explain. Here is the issue

TS6.5.0 SP2

1) I have edited editor.uid file from the UI. I uploaded the edited file (does it upload to workarea or does it upload file to staging ? If it uploads to workarea, then how is that opossible because I am already working on this file in workarea.) Performed submit on this file using config_submit workflow. Where does this file go after this action, if file is in staging already ? If file is in workarea , then it will come to staging with submit operation, right ?

2) After completeing this, when I click on version tab, I get to see the latest version and time as current time when I modifuied the file.

3) When I click on the compare to current version, I get two frame set. But in these frames message is "Page can not be found".

So whats wrong here ? I checked virtual directory and there is no error there ? When I click on the editor.uid file in workarea, I get the message "Page can not be found" Usually, if its a DCR, so I get to see the details that a user has input in fields and when I preview this DCR, I get to see how this file will look in html.

Can you pls give some idea on this ?

- "config_submit" is your Workflow. I can probably make a good guess of what it does but without seeing code
it's just speculation. Note though that you can not Upload directly to Staging, it's read-only. The best you can
do is upload to some workarea and then Submit it to Staging, manually ot through Workflow.

- "Compare" Widget has various Tabs. In 6.5 those are "Visual", "Source", "Tags" and "Properties".
In all four cases Widget Body is basically a Frameset with two Frames showing corresponding Tab
information for the two Files being compared.

- In the "Visual" Mode Widget tries to render each File with the Browser. Since *.uid is not a known Mime-type
iwwebd has no idea what to do with it and shows Error 404, "Page can not be found". Please note that:

a) Compare/Visual uses the same URL (in each Frame's src attribute) that you get trying to Preview File
by clicking on it in CCPro GUI. If Preview works, Compare/Visual will too. If Preview fails, Compare/Visual also
fails.

b) For something like code or *.uid, it is better to use Compare/Source Mode. It usually works even if Compare/Visual
does not. Have you tried it? Did it work?
