populating DCT items dynamically

Hi All,

Use Case:
There are certain items in the DCT, which needs to be populated dynamically (from the database). This can be achieved using inline in a drop-down box or in a check-box. But we need one more item against every value fetched from the database. e.g. If DB query returns 1 value, in DCT we need to show 2 items in total.
Container as a replicant is not accepted as a solution :-(

Environment:
TS 6.7.2
OS: Solaris
DB : Oracle

Any pointers would be very helpful.

By second time do you mean, the second item? If yes, then that item value will be filled up as a content in DCT. It will not be populated from DB

If you're using an inline script to retrieve the values from the DB - can't you just add another element into the formatted results before you print them to STDOUT for the DCT to capture?

Or is there some dynamic logic about this extra element that you haven't made clear?

Thanks for your suggestion.
There is no any logic, which I haven't mentioned.
If I am getting 'n' values as result from DB, I need to populate 'n' elements with another set of 'n' items against each item.
Has anyone achieved similar kind of thing in past?

What about container replicant. It has two items defined in the container. based on values count from DB addinstances dynamically at runtime using Form API.

Are you saying that, I need to add a container with two items. One will be populated using inline from DB. But then at which point do I need to loop over the result?
Have you done similar thing in past?

I have done earlier like that implementation.
First one should be Value from DB, the second should be placed as hidden field.
The second one used to trach edition of value in first field.

Have you used perl script to get the value as well as create the consecutive item?

I will share my one more experience on this.
I designed replicant container with two items one visible, another one is hidden
List of values are retrieved from DB, the values are label and file name.
It is passed to Form APi as array of values(Array of value should be label:file_name). In Form Api processed array. Label value stored to the first item. file name stored in second hidden item. First item contains edit btn(callout) with text(label value displayed), whenever user clicks on edit, hidden value used to edit the DCR.

Hi Shweta,
I am using call server to pull data from DB. The retrieved values are serialized as array of values, then it deserialized in Form API and set values to those two items. Container length depends on the array length.

Use the below code snippet to serialize and de serialize
