Read a DCR file in external Java Class

Hello everybody, I need to create a Java class for a component which has to read a DCR file, the class will receive the file's url and will have to open it and return the content in xml format.

Does someone know how can I do this, please?.

Please have a look at the class

com.interwoven.livesite.component.foundation.external.dcr.[size=2]DcrFileLoader. In this class method [size=2]getIndividualDcr reads the parameter "type" and "dcr" and then loads the complete DCR into an XML doc. Pass the parameter type as "Category:Type" and then "dcr" as dcr name.

This specific Java class (com.interwoven.livesite.component.foundation.exter nal.dcr.DcrFileLoader) is not part of the base product. It is part of the foundation SPAR file that gets installed on top of the product. You can inspect that SPAR file - perhaps there is a read-me type of document or you can look at the available Java classes directly.

With that said, there is a Java API doc for some of the other Java classes that are shipped with the product itself.

also, can't you do that with just regular java code to read a file and return data as xml? or even use DOM parser?

maybe you should list your complete requirement so we can suggest right way to do it.

I *think*, even though his post is posted under "TeamSite Product Line", he's looking for how to read DCRs with Java External in a SP component and documentation related to that. That information will not be inside of CSSDK documentation.
