This code is working fine in development environment.

But in staging environment it gives compilation error.

I tried to use iwpt_compile.ipl from the /iw-home/bin directory , where CLTs are , as follows

I got the error[html]
element syntax:
In 'docroot' mode, -iw_include-location must be used

When I try to run the iwpt_compile.ipl command from iw-home/bin dir as follows, command does not work at all and SSH Shell client is getting froze[html]./iwpt_compile.ipl -pt /default/main/NEWROG/Common/WORKAREA/Common/templatedata/Component/Resource/presentation/preview.tpl -iw_pt-dcr /default/main/NEWROG/Common/WORKAREA/Common/templatedata/Component/Resource/data/search/search -ocode /tmp/resource.ipl[/html]

Whats wrong with preview.tpl file ? How can I make sure its working ?

When you say it works in prod, how do you mean ? From iwpt_compile ? Or GUI ?

I dont understand your question.

I said on development server this preview.tpl is working fine, but when we push same tpl in staging server for testers to test, it gives compilation error as asked in the post.

When you say it works on the dev server, are you using the exact same command or are you using the preview/generate button

When you use preview/generate from the GUI, it includes that parameter automatically.

iw_include tells ostream where the docroot is.

It's vBulletin artifact. If you check code you'll see proper escaping. Syntax seems to be Ok here.
Of course there are custom PM referencies in the code that that we can not possibly know anything about...

Yes mbintegration.tpl is there in specified path. I didnt push it in staging but when you asked this question, I checked the path and it is there in place.

This output I got when I executed the command with -iw_include-location.
Now where can I look for the errors ? Or how to find problem thats causing these errors ? Are the errors shown in output refer to the preview.tpl code ? I can just copy preview.tpl in textpad and find the line numbers whiere errors are shown in this output ? Or will that be a different code derived from the execution of preview.typl ?

Learn to debug. That is a good plan.

Put some Print statements in the TPL perl. Print out variables.

I do not know your code, but I suspect that having a folder named **ERROR** was not planned.

Print out the variables that generate the folder name.

I just found that preview.tpl is giving same error on DEV and STAGING when compiled from command line. But on DEV, it does not give any error when a file is generated from GUI using Generate.

Is it possible that some of the libraries or files required to execute the code are missing ? If yes, how to find that out ? As from these errors I cant figure out which files are missing.

Can this be permissions issue ? If permissions are not set, does it throw errors like this ? or does it throw "permission denied" error ?

If I create my own WA and regenerate a file, it is working. but in other or shared area it is not working, throwing the same error as you,
