Are you talking about the TeamSite server crashing or the Operating System crashing? You should distinguish between the two. For operating system crash, a number of things could happen. Memory leaks, cpu overheating, missing system files, system files being changed, etc.... For a TeamSite crash, the UI could be unresponsible, the system file could be corrupt, your backing (content) store could be corrupted, your servletd is running away with all the memory, your perl is eating up all your processes....

I think your question is very vague. This is like asking what happens when a car crashes. It depends on how fast it was going, what did it hit, from what angle etc. It could explode, break an axle, merely have a small dent, any number of outcomes, depending upon the impact.

Same with TeamSite. As the above poster mentioned, there are many processes running as part of the overall operation of TeamSite. A failure in any one of those could be interpreted by your customer as a "crash" of the system.

Perhaps if you could be more specific about what you mean by "crash?"

TS6.7.1 SP1, win server 2003

TeamSite service was not available, when user tried to logon to TS

One of my collegue said, TS server has crashed and he was getting blue screen. ( I guess he was getting blue screen, when he was trying to access TS UI from local m/c). Should the user get a blue screen or some error ?

If you see a bluescreen that is the server, not TeamSite. Now it is possible that TS caused/helped the bluescreen, but that is far from certain. A memory leak is a program that allocates memory and never releases it. It takes a restart of the application to free the memory. I have never seen a memory leak cause a blue screen. It may hang the server (making TS unresponsive).

Actually - if you're getting a blue screen - that's generally the client workstation - not the server (unless you're working directly on the server as a client workstation).
