I have installed Livesite 3.1 , for this version the OOTB components there is no longer a sample blog component.

Any idea where I can get this component?

These components are not available with new version. But if you have earlier version sample blog components are available then you can migrate those to newer version.
You have to accommodate all the new blog component file into a .spar (basically a jar) file and then upload it into new version.

Actually, I think it is still shipped with 3.1, but just not pre-installed. Look at the .spar files in the {TeamSite}/install directory. I think foundation.spar and component-guide.spar are pre-installed, but the others in there--including blogs--you can install yourself using the archive_install.ipl command.

Here are the Blog Example components that were part of LS 3.0, 'unofficially' ported to 3.1. Instructions are included in the readme file in the component folder (/Community/Interwoven/Blog Example).

Just rename the file from blog.spar.zip to blog.spar and install using {TeamSite}/install/install_archive.ipl.

Apparently that should be in impl.zip

I am investigating blog capailities of TeamSite 6.7.2 and LiveSite 3.1. I installed the blog.spar but I do not see the Sample Blog site in my Workarea.

I can see the blog components but not the sample site as outlined in the documentation. Do I need to create this from scratch or am I missing something?

The spar of 3.0 blog components (ported to 3.1+) doesn't contain any sample pages. There are only 4 components so you can just create 4 pages and drop one of each on a page pretty easily to see it work.

I'm curious: what documentation says there's a sample site?

I might have a spar of those pages if you want me to post it.

The spar and all the components and .cfg files installed correctly. I'm able to create a new form entry and a dcr-type="xml" file when saving the form entry.

The problem is that the components don't have a field for navigating to the new dcr in the component properties.

It looks like the necessary fields for a dcr path exist in the component ContentXML. There are 3 fields in the tag that should work:

Datum Exposed="false" ID="blog" Name="blog" Type="String"
Datum Exposed="false" ID="entryId" Name="entryId" Type="String"
Datum Exposed="false" ID="group" Name="group" Type="String"

But, I can't save the the component. So I can't add a path to the DCR and can't set the exposed="false" values to "true."

The save fails if I try to save with changes AND if I just try to save after opening without making any changes. Here is the error:

Component preview failed.
Could not load component XSL into XMLDOM.
com.interwoven.livesite.common.xml.ValidationError mColumn[59] mLine[7] mSystemID[null] mPublicID[null] mType[FATAL] mMessage[A location path was expected, but the following token was encountered: |]

What is TS and SP/LS version you are using?

You did not mention in which blog component you are facing problem?
After creating/updating a component/page do you have submit it to stagging by OOTB Submit workflow?

The blog component I'm trying to implement first is blog_detail. I am using LiveSite 3.1.2 and TeamSite/SitePublisher 6.7.2.

Yes, I have submitted the component and I am testing it on a .page.

I was never able to get the blog going properly. It seems the blog from 3.0 does not work in livesite 3.1.2.

I believe (Stokes can probably validate it for sure) blog component(s) were originally created in 3.0.x version. Now they are not shipped with LS 3.1.x. If you pulled the blog component(s) from 3.0.x or an old SPAR then you'd have to understand how it works and build any dependencies (i.e. DB tables, etc.) that were either OOTB or a "setup script" was provided for in the previous versions.

Yes, they were created for LS3.0 and don't appear OOTB after that. What I did was take those components and port them to a 3.1-compatible .spar file, and post the spar file here (with no warranties :-) ).

However, I think the blog tables are still created as part of the LS install, even in 3.1 and beyond. When I installed this spar in TS 6.7.2 sp1 with LS, it worked fine for me.

Others are having some trouble making it work though, so YMMV.
