has anyone installed Search 3.1.1?

has anybody installed TS Search 3.1.1?

is IDOL server part of TS Search installation? or do we need to have IDOL installed somewhere before we can install Search 3.1.1?

documentation says: "The underlying search engine is replaced with Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL).".

to me that means IDOL is part of the new Search not a standalone module. but i would like confirmation from people who already installed 3.1.1.

I've installed TS Search 3.1.1 on our dev box and got it running just fine.

TS Search 3.1.1 is IDOL for all intents and purposes. It's just stripped down and you don't have as much configuration options as you would with full blown IDOL (we also have Autonomy IDOL in house as well). So no, you don't need full blown IDOL installed to use TS Search 3.1.1 because it is IDOL itself. Just like how it was Verity K2 Search in versions 2.x and earlier.

All they did was replace the Verity K2 Search engine with IDOL Search engine.

an iwov salesman tried to convince me that i will need somebody from their professional services to install IDOL for teamsite Search. i told him that the release notes and installation docs didn't say anything about standalone IDOL... but he kept saying that he is sure based on his experience with other customers Smiley Happy

Just fyi, before they recently released the downloadable version you had to request it and they wanted to send folks out to help install the product. With the downloadable version that requirement went away. So your sales rep must not have been kept in the loop on that then. But yeah previously they required someone to come out and install it for you.

Hi I have installed Search 3.1.1 on Linux server. I have configured a branch (small one) in branches.cfg. No track of WA modifications in search.properties.

I am facing few issues while starting up the IDOL server back after the configuration setup. Can anybody help me in this regard.

I've been told that to use the IDOL enabled components available on the DevNet Tech Library, you need to have a stand alone IDOL installation, and hence another license. They are useless without this.
I have TS7.1 with Search installed and they cannot be used in this environment.
