iwmnt and .iwmnt

I am on solaris system. I can see two folders in root dir on DEV server, one is "iwmnt" and other is ".iwmnt"

Which folder is root folder for the file system ? why are these two differnt ?
Both have almost same content.

On Staging server, I see only "iwmnt" in the root dir

Read TeamSite® Administration Guide. "/.iwmnt" is IWOV NFS mounting point without caching, "/iwmnt" - with it.
IWOV recommends that you normally use /iwmnt (cached). Non-cached mount sholud be used in special cases only

I just wanted to know its equivalent in Windows env where we have Y drive as the mount point..Is there any non-cached mount point there as well?
