api performance

We have developed PHP application using MediaBin’s Web Services and Pear SOAP for maintaining metadata, moving asset with in mediabin etc. The problem is our application is very slow, take approximately 60-120 sec for revising asset, metadata etc.
Want to have good performance for our next project and planning to move from PHP application to JAVA application. Will this improve performance?
Which will give good performance among there three?
-Script Model Reference
-C++ API Reference
-MediaBin Web Services
Is there any other way(s) to improve performance?.
Thanks & Regards

Before saying that the MB API is slow was there any research conducted on the system to see what the system performance is. There are a lot of things that can affect MB performance. Right from network bandwidth to what task you are using and what you are doing in that task.
If you are moving from PHP to Java there is no guarantee that the performance will improve automatically. If the way in which the code written underneath remains the same I don't see a way in which it improves performance.

Thanks a lot.
Planning to try following to improve MediaBin Performance,
SQL Server Recovery Model:
Change Recovery Model from FULL to SIMPLE.
Disabling Metadata Revision
Asset Processing:
Fix the maximum number of previews created by MediaBin, while inserting asset to 3 for PDF, Doc, and MOV etc.
Did any one try these things? pls give me some information about how much performance improvement one can expect by implementing the about mentioned methods.
Thanks in advance
