Nested Inline command - does it work?

Hi All

Env Details - TS 6.7.1 SP1
I have a requirement wherein I need to build a dropdown dynamically. This can be achieved very easily with the use of but my DCT is structured in such a way that it has the entire container-item hierarchy itself wrapped in an inline so when I try to put another inline inside the main inline, it doesn't populate the dropdown(it remains blank)
Has anyone tried out this and does it work?

One of the solutions I could think of is to change this inline to call a PERL file and write the logic to build dropdown in PERL.
Please suggest if there is another solution wherein I can make 2 inline commands work.

There are a couple of options.

1st you have noticed why I do not like just plain /bin/cat of XML, no processesing.

Moving to Perl will certainly allow you to read one file and append (even sort) another chunk of XML. This data is also available when you preview. XML is only read and updated on form open.

You can also do true dynamic lists by using FormAPI. That can update the data anytime when the form is running. You would need a callserver to read a file off the server and a callback routine to replace the new data.
