Content Store question

I am just being introduced to TeamSite development.
I have following question about content store.

TeamSite licence comes with one content store. After that for addiional content store, buyer has to pay about $30000. Why do the buyers have to pay for additional stores ? Whats so special about content stores ? Ultimately, data is stored on the disk space client has. How is a content store space different from hard disk space ? What kind of formatting is done on hard disk space to turn it into content store ? Is there a limit on the amount of data that can be stored in content store ?

you are paying for additional content stores, very likely on different disk subsystems.

Most implementations work great with 1 store. However when those get so large that backups take days they need to be split. That costs another store and you need to pay for it.

I suggest you contact an Autonomy/Interwoven representative to get answers to the questions you have (especially about why you need to shell out the $$'s for the additional stores ;-)

Negotiating with interwoven reps is done at the hogher level. So we dont get to talk to them.
Is it possible that somebody replies me, what is it that content stores cost so much pls ? Is there a lot of work involved or does it require some special software or does the creation of content store costs lot ?This is only out of my curiosity. Even my senior collegues have no idea about that.

Basically - you're paying for functionality. It costs whatever Interwoven (now Autonomy) wants to charge for it - they set the price so only they can tell you why it costs so much - hence my suggestion to talk to them.
