FormAPI loading

FormAPI consists of IW specific functions eg IWDataCapture, IWItem, IWEventRegistry etc.
This FormAPI is using JavaScript only. My confusion is if these functions are sent to browser , then browser wont be able to interprete it. So at what point of time will these functions be interpreted on server ? My understanding is , once the form initializes, then whatever is between script tags is sent to browser, without doing anything. In that case IW specific functions will be sent to browser for interpretation. So is it like that or the userscript in the script tag is first interpreted on server and then sent to browser ? Is the userscript interpretation done at the same time when form is loading ?
If only JavaScript is sent to browser, then at what point of time, these IW functions are converted to JavaScript ?

They don't have to be converted to JavaScript - they are JavaScript - FormAPI is a JavaScript interface to simplify the process of interacting with the DCT forms - there is [probably] (somewhere - I haven't bothered to look for it) a .js file (or files) that define all the FormAPI objects and methods which is injected into the stream so that the browser (in this case iwwebd a.k.a. apache) can properly interpret all the calls.

But does it really matter whether it's done that way or via elfin magic? As long as you use the functions the way they are documented in the DCT context - it should work just fine.
