Convert WFT jobspec to WFM model

Hi,

I just watched Shamanth Kumar's webcast on transitioning WFTs to WFMs, and he mentioned a process of using WFT jobspecs (captured using debug) to create WFM models. I've been trying to hunt down any doco on that, and as yet, have been unsuccessful.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I have seen the presentation. Nowhere it is mentioned that using WFT workflow defintion file you can convert it to a workflow model. The webcast showcased the features of both wft and wfm workflows and new features added in wfm concept.

If you want to transform your wft to wfm, you have to recreate your workflows using Workflow Modeller. But as far as I know, for backward compatibility the new versions of TeamSite still support wft workflows.

About 39 minutes into the presentation, he says:

"Run your WFTs in debug mode, get a job spec out of it. Using a job spec, map it ... we have a one-to-one mapping between a job spec and a WFM. Create your WFM based on your job specs." etc.

What I was presuming was that there was some IWOV "one-to-one" mapping tool to do this for us. Obviously a wrong presumption Smiley Happy

Now I realize that what he meant was that you just use the job spec as a guide for manually creating the WFM. Thanks for clearing it up.

Yes, Now you got correct understanding. So need to create a new workflow with WFM taking guide from existing WFT's job sepcifications.

WFM is a front-end that ultimately results in creating a job specification file. The workflow engine (back-end) processes job specification files - and thus supports both WFT and WFM since they both result in job specification files - and thus far, there have been (as far as I know) no backwards-incompatible changes to the DTD of job specification files (there were some modifications / additions made, but all backwards-compatible).
