WS 8.2 SP1 - One click Opening URL Links

Hi,

We are trying to publish URL links on our intranet to documents within Worksite.

We are using worksite web 8.2 SP1. The usual way to add the URL's to the intranet is to simply do a Send URL link from within the FileSite client and then paste the syntax. While this works, we would like to get the document to open without the users being prompted for the default action (usually View).

I have seen a few case notes on using the ViewDoc.aspx, &command=ok and setting enabling-caching in the options.xml.

The problem I have is that
1: Instead of viewdoc.aspx being called a standard URL calls GetDoc.aspx, so the &command=ok does not seem to work.

2: If I update the syntax to use viewdoc.aspx, I just get a blank page.

Can anyone point me in the right direction. Sample syntax i have tried is below:

The latest parameter (latest=1) is only supported in GetDoc.aspx. This will be supported in 8.5, though.
The command parameter (command=ok) is only supported in ViewDoc.aspx.
Your ViewDoc.aspx URL looks correct, aside from the latest param. But that shouldn't matter, as it's just ignored on the server side.

You should upgrade to the latest patch, 8.2 SP1 Patch 5, of WSW. We fixed a bug with the content header, and perhaps that is causing you to have a blank window open instead of the content.

You can also use a tool called Fiddler. This tool installs in your browser and allows you to view the server response. If you get data from the server, it will appear in Fiddler. As long as you get data and the correct content header, your browser should be able to invoke the native application to open the document.

Unless I've missed something, using ViewDoc doesn't really fix the problem because you still get the Windows prompt to Open or Save the file. Yes, the user can uncheck a box and make that stop for that document type, but this inevitably gets thrown back at us as a "problem" that we need to solve on a firmwide basis.

What I've wanted for many years now is a way to open a document from a link, into the native application, with no prompting and no additional clicking, and it would be very nice to have the "latest" option as well. I have a very messy way of doing this but it's not a good solution.
