In what context are you asking this?

callserver is a FormAPI functionality to make a server call e.g. calling a PERL script on the server

callback is a term used in workflows which refer to making transition from one task to another.

Read properly the FormAPI guide and Workflow guide to know more details.

Hi thanks for your reply , is the callserver method only used to call an extrenal perl file or , it is used to call any server side scripts like an jsp, or any js files .....

I had mentioned PERL script as an example. You can call any server side scripts.

"Callback" Functions is a Term used in TS Documentation to indicate FormAPI functions that callServer
(or rather JS rendered by callServer) executes to manipulate parent DCR, re-synchronize Client/Server execution
Threads, etc...

Simply put, "Callbacks" are primary developer's instruments to manipulate DCR from callServer.
Also, usage of FormAPI Callback functions is recommended in DC CGI Callouts instead of obsolete
"iw_callback_var Form Entry" technique
