OD comparison hang
Goblin
Having a problem with OD, doing a deployment from a Solaris box to a Win2k box, using the web interface. The deployment shows it gets up to doing a directory comparison, transactional, and then just hangs, forever.
In the Solaris machine log (on the Solaris box) we get:
ENG: 2002/11/06 10:42:05 AM GMT+11:00 end of cfg[/opt/OpenDeployNG/conf/test.xml]
ENG: 2002/11/06 10:42:05 AM GMT+11:00 Waiting for 1 children to complete phases
and in the Win2k machine log (on the Solaris box):
ERROR: Didn't understand name directives_file value tmp/.test.Win2kBox.diff_file
So it looks as though the comparison is going through, and then messing up on the diff_file definition.
We have a file in the OpenDeploy/tmp directory:
.test.MYDEFINITIONNAME.2KSYDMS0010
which has the line:
directives_file=tmp/.test.2KSYDMS0010.diff_file
Which is obviously the line in question that OD doesn't like, but why would it be generating this line, if it can't use it???
iwodstart reports version:
Version 5.0.0.0 Build 3490 Interwoven 20010627

Interestingly, I have now had a few test deployments go through (including some that had previously hung at that point) and while they still give the directives_file error, they no longer hang after that error, but continue on to do a deployment correctly.
It appears that all is working well, but I'm not sure what changed to let these through, unfortunately.

Looks like TeamSite didn't start properly, and so, wasn't running. Is this likely to be some kind of deadlock issue?
When the error occurs, the deployment just hangs for upwards of 10 days (I've never let one run for longer).

You seem to have a very early release of the 5.0.0 version of OpenDeploy - many bugs have since been fixed since and I think this may be one of them. I would *strongly* encourage you to upgrade to the latest version of OpenDeploy 5.5.1 with ServicePacks:
Version 5.5.1 Build 11146 REL Interwoven 20020829
And then try again. (sorry, I hate suggesting things like this as a matter of recourse, but you're talking about more than a *year* of development work between your version and the current version
