Do we need to run iwmigrate while upgrading to 6.7.2 from 6.5 SP2?

Hi ,
We are planning to upgrade from TS 6.5 SP2 system to TS 6.7.2 on Win server 2003 SP2. Currently we are using Search functionality which is installed on separate server.
My query is: Do we have to run iwmigrate after upgrading to TS 6.7.2? If yes then why?
Is it because we are using Search with TS6.5SP2, we will have to run iwmigrate?
We are not changing our servers for upgrade. We are installing TS6.7.2 on top of TS6.5 SP2

Upgade and Migrate are two separate things so will be the installations for Teamsite Server 672 and Teamsite Search 2.1.1.In your case you're already on a version TS Svr 6.5SP2 where you can simply Upgrade to TS Svr 6.7.2 with no 'iwmigrate' step required unless you want to move your content or split your store.

However for Search upgrade you should have a store which was previously upgraded or migrated ('iwmigrate')from Pre 6.5 version ;You can try
running 'chkfatdir.ipl' as per KB#58110 and then run 'iwmigrate' as per KB#55358 if required .

It depends on the information provided by Interwoven. Some version upgrades still recommend doing an iwmigrate after the upgrade because although the new version will understand the old version's backing store format - iwmigrate will clean things up so that the backing store is truly in the new backing store format. If you need to do this - the thing to do is to move / rename your existing default store to something like "65_store" and then create a blank new "default" store and then perform the migration from the "65_store" to the "default" store" - and when done, run iwfsshrink on the "default" store, and then remove the "65_store".

if you have a genuine 6.5 store, 6.5 had the search already, so it *should*work.

However, try to ask IWOV support whether you can retain the old format.
