Set Label for a field

Hi All

I m using Teamsite 6.7.1 version
When i try to chnage the Label using setLabel function,it works fine for new form entry....but when i open the record in edit mode..the js file gets stuck up

Wat can be the problem here....Is there any other way of setting the Label for the field?

No it doesnt give any java script error...Infact its sets the label as well.but the code doesnt go to next line...i have tracked using alert..

Is there any other way of setting the label in the js file??

can you post your entire js code? You say setLabel is working so I doubt that line is what is giving you trouble when you edit a file and it hangs. What are the following lines? post your entire code so we can get a better picture what your code is trying to do.

In the new form entry..flow of code is proper.
To debug i have added alerts..after the first alert i dont receive the second alert..Label gets set but code doesnt execute after this line

That's usually an indication that there's something wrong with the JS code - change your first alert to:

alert("1: " + parent);

and then run the test again with both a new DCR and editing the same DCR after it's been saved and compare the results of that first alert.

well you're alert("2); is broken which is why it's not getting callled you forgot a ". Unless that was a typo in your post.

are you setting the label on form load? or onItemChange?
is this item or container nested replicant? how many levels?

Just wanted to give a note regarding setLabel(). If you are trying to set Label of a container which is collapsed then, you will get error. So, first make setCollapsed(true), then setLabel(whatever) and then again make setCollapsed(false). The containers usually get collapsed automatically if you have too many containers in your DCR. So, first make setCollapsed(true), then setLabel(whatever) and then again make setCollapsed(false). The containers usually get collapsed automatically if you have too many containers in your DCR.

Based on your initial statement, the instructions would appear to be incorrect. I would imagine you meant:
