TeamSite ReportCenter and database views

Very new to TeamSite ReportCenter. I was asked to create a new type of report, so I tried copying an existing report and modifying that. However, I'm now seeing that there are issues with the current reports not pulling the correct data.

When I open the existing report in Crystal Reports XI, it's listing a particular database and view as the datasource; however, when I look at our list of databases and views in SQL Server, we don't have any with this name. Would anyone have any hints on how to track this information down? There is one database table that I've seen that looks closer to what I'm seeing in Crystal Reports than the others - I'm thinking it might be what I'm looking for, but I'd like to know for sure.

Also, I've found very little documentation on ReportCenter other than the guide PDF. Are there any other good sources that I should be checking? Thanks in advance.

Our DBA tried to investigate the data source issue with no luck. He thinks maybe Crystal Reports has created a kind of view within itself...

Would anyone know how to export a datasource from one server to another? I've seen lots of articles describing how to export data to a file, but have found nothing about exporting a whole datasource. We need to test the report on a different server that is running a modified workflow.

Well, since my first post in this thread in April, I've since found the answer for one of these two questions, which I wanted to post here in the event that someone else might be stuck in the same predicament:

The "views" the report was accessing were not at the database level - they were created by Business View Manager, which is a product within the Crystal Reports server installer. It more or less allows you to create a kind of view using existing tables and views. But it doesn't give you the same kind of ability to use a complicated select statement like SQL Server does. If you have a choice, you're better off creating your view at the database level.

Another part of the issue was that I didn't have permission to access all of the appropriate databases, which was preventing me from seeing anything other than the Business View that the particular report was set to use.

does anyone have any feedback about reportcenter performance. We're at about 75 teamsite users and 35,000 pages and will likely scale up to 350 users and 300K pages. How many reportcenter users do other larger installs usually have and what kind of performance do you get e.g. response time for report generation?

I don't have details (haven't used it yet) - but you might consider postponing trying to implement ReportCenter until you upgrade to 7.x. 6.x requires that you not only buy ReportCenter, but you also have to buy/license/install Crystal Reports -- 7.x no longer uses Crystal so it should be a much more streamlined (and hopefully less-expensive) process to get it setup.

We've basically implemented ReportCenter to the UAT step and are seeing what we believe is quite a slow response with just a single user against what appears to be not a terribly large content store. We're wanting to use the product and let some of our larger division admin folks run their own reports. Before we 'release the hounds', i'm hoping to hear that this has been done, successfully, before. Waiting for TS7 seems like it may be several months away? (release and actual upgrade timeline)

I spoke to a sales rep from Autonomy a few weeks ago who said Teamsite 7.x DOES indeed use Crystal.

As a result, I've been in the process of rebuilding one of our reports in SQL Server 2005 Reporting in the hope that this might possibly allow for a little more flexibility. It's nice to be able to use real TSQL queries for a change, but there are limitations here too.

wmoser, depending on what kind of information you're reporting on, the reports can be slow. But if an out of the box report is slow, that's not normal.
