Email functionality not working with WFM 1.0.0.1

Hi All,

I am working on TS 6.7.1 SP1 and Workflow modeler 1.0.0.1.
I have been trying to send emails using iw_solution_email.ipl but each time it shows the same error.

Error in iwjoberrors.log says
"Could not run E:\Interwoven\TeamSite\iw-perl\bin\iwperlE:\Interwoven\TeamSite\local\config\wft\solutions\iw_solution_email.ipl for task 12374; retrying in 1 minute"

Command attribute of the external task for email reads as
"E:\Interwoven\TeamSite\iw-perl\bin\iwperl E:\Interwoven\TeamSite\local\config\wft\solutions\iw_solution_email.ipl"

While error in iwutild_cmdout.log says
"Task 13107 has no value for variable 'iw_mailheader_pt' at E:\Interwoven\TeamSite\local\config\wft\solutions\iw_solution_email.ipl line 196."

Please note that I am successful in sending emails using the same ipl file when working with wft's.

Could someone guide me on this.

In variables attribute of this external task mention mail header and mail body template which will be used for sending mails.

I think you have to use Email Task or Url Task for sending email.
For Email task you have to pass mail_template file and target_task_name and classname is optional.
For better result you should use Url Task, for this you have pass different variables, like taskbeanid, BodyStylesheet, Recipients, sender, subject and classname.
For more details you should check the OOTB workflow "Publish Livesite Content".

A number of folks on Windows have had to change the command to be:

"E:\Interwoven\TeamSite\iw-perl\bin\iwperl.exe E:\Interwoven\TeamSite\local\config\wft\solutions\iw_solution_email.ipl"

This is usually because somehow they have managed to get / create a 0-length file called "iwperl" in the iw-perl/bin directory (the other alternative is check for that and if it's there, remove it - and then see if your existing command line works).

Fixed formatting for #3 - with respect to #2 - there is a bug which requires that you have an email_map.cfg in the IWHOME/local/config/wft/solutions directory (copy from email_map.cfg.example is sufficient) even if you are not intending to use it.

That is already mentioned in log. Its the license problem, you have to contact with interwoven support.

Here even if there is a licensing problem, the email task shouldn't get affected , only the deploy task should not be handling well.

Yeah.I have tried using a user/review task after the external task that sends out an email and I have also tried ending the workflow after the mailing task.

But it doesn't work anyways.

The error message sounds as if you don't have a CSSDK license - if that is the case, you should contact Support to find out if you are eligible for one, and if so - they'll provide it to you (and then you can stick it into the cssdk.cfg file)

I see in one of your post that you are getting an error regarding the iw_mailheader_pt in iwutild_cmdout.log, Also if you have a user or review task it works.

So in your new test case having an external task just before the end task, it is for sure that the mail header does'nt pick up any ID to use for the mails to go.

Is the iw_mailheader_pt a customized one?

Hi,

You are using iw_solution_email.ipl script for sending the mails. For that you have to pass two variables.

Check there should be no space after the variable name. Open the variable window and the chk the variable u have defined. If there will be spcae after dat , script will throw error.

When we try to send deployment notification email to the owners of 3 different tasks, the script somehow skips the latter 2 task owners and sends the email to only the first task owner OR doesn't send the email at all.

Here is what we've given for the command to be executed for the deployment task (the owner of task 'Author Rework' gets the email)

E:\Interwoven\TeamSite\iw-perl\bin\iwperl E:\Interwoven\TeamSite\local\config\wft\solutions\iw_solution_email.ipl -t "Author Rework" -t "Initial Reviewer" -t "Final Reviewer"

We've also tried the following command (none of the task owners get the email)

E:\Interwoven\TeamSite\iw-perl\bin\iwperl E:\Interwoven\TeamSite\local\config\wft\solutions\iw_solution_email.ipl -t "Author Rework", -t "Initial Reviewer", -t "Final Reviewer"

Please note that there is no space before the ipl file name (it is ...\solutions\iw_solution_email.ipl, actually).

Apparently, the script is not getting the parameters in the required format, but even after going through the ipl file, it's not clear as to what should be the syntax of this command.

Any ideas, on how to achieve this?

Have you enabled $DEBUG in iw_solution_email.ipl?
Have you then examined the output in the debug output file in IWHOME/tmp?
Have you also verified that the header PT you are using iterates through all the target tasks?

Debug is ON in the ipl file and the \tmp\iw_solutions_debug.log shows that even if I change the order of the tasks only the first task gets activated.

Are you concerned about task activation after the notification - or recipients of the notification?

The '-t' flag allows you to specify multiple tasks for which all of the owners of those tasks will be recipients of the email notification (if the header PT is written correctly). The WFT code defines what tasks get activated after the notification is sent.

[/html]If you don't know - then you are not the right person for debugging and fixing the issue [yet] - you either need to hire someone who knows how to do FormsPublisher development, or you need to spend more time with the manuals and/or take an Interwoven development training course.

Yes - I could tell you what the exact problem is (I've already provided the information about what's wrong) - but spoon-feeding you code will only help you in the here-and-now and you won't actually be learning anything. If you follow the advice I've provided in terms of reading and/or training - then you will learn how to fix this issue, and probably quite a lot of other issues as well.

If you're willing to wait long enough - chances are some other non-thinking person will post the actual code you need to use - but I'll leave it to them to do so, or you to take the initiative and try to actually learn how to maintain the product for which you are apparently, at least in part, responsible.
