set EAs after uploading the file

Hi,

1. Is there a way to set a Extended Attribute (EA) using iwextattr CLT immediately after the user uploads a file using File>import in content center GUI ? and how?

2. Also is there a way to open a tag form immediately after the user uploads a file using File>import in content center GUI? and how?

3. Also, If the user cancels the tag form, the file should not be uploaded. How to integrate this functionality in teamsite?

Would really appreciate pointers for any of the above.

The Only way I can think of doing this is doing customization on the "Import" functionality. You can kick of a workflow which basically takes the file, loads it and in next task adds extended attributes and deploys it to you data directory.

There is nothing out of the box to fulfill these requirements. You can do some of this things by custom coding.
Take a look at these threads: [thread=28152]28152[/thread], [thread=21903]21903[/thread]; perhaps it may help a little. Import Widget is not the easy one to customize.

What File(s)? Import Applet does not provide any API to figure out what Files were imported.

File Import has always been a frustration for our users. Partly because we don't allow files that have no EAs on them to be submitted throw workflow so a user has to track down where they imported the documents too and then try to tag them. It would've been nice if Interwoven provided a configuration option to allow for the tagging screen to load after importing was done.

Thanks for posting these Boris, I've been in the process this week of looking for ways to load the tagging screen after import and figured I might have to do some customization of the importwidget.

Well i was not talking solely on import link, One can always create a cutom link "File Import" and do what ever on that link using CGI can Workflow.

You can try using event trigger on uploading file (May be CreateFSE but not sure). We have used this procedure in our old project at image file upload event.

U need to call custom ipl to handle EA attributes at File Upload event. Ipl is configured at iwat command on CreateFSE.

Another option is to look into Front Office. Users will have to use the Briefcase to import docs but you will be able to use workflow and the TagUI to set MetaData.

Would be nice if there was a UI to set MetaData on Import much like what MediaBin has when assets are imported
