Emails notification - HTML is not rendered well

Hi TS Developers,

I have an issue with my email notification more like with the email client itself. An external task generates the HTML code that's sent to the email client. The problem is when I get the email sometimes the ! character appears to be included for text or ahref HTML elements.

This is an example of the issue:

I checked the HTML in the logs and it shows the text correctly so I don't know why the html is rendered that way. I'm wondering if any of you guys have experienced anything like it in the past.

The email client is Lotus Notes 8.1, I'm not really sure if it's email client related or perhaps something else because sometimes it happens and other times works fine so there's no pattern to follow.

Any Suggestions?

More like SMTP (Domino?) Server Related. I seem to remember some reporting about SMTP bug causing exclamation
insertion in long uninterrupted lines. Break long lines (512+) using breaks, paragraphs or div's. Make sure you
insert physical EOL ( \n ) as well so that the line is shorter from the OS prospective also.

What program are you using to generate the email? What version of TS are you using?

There was a bug in iwsend_mail.ipl some time back where it didn't put enough newlines into the body of the email and this resulted in exclamation points (!'s) being embedded in the resulting HTML.

Even if you're not using iwsend_mail.ipl - try to make sure that you break up long lines of HTML code with newlines - and see if that resolves the problem.

I attached the html generated by iwsend_mail.ipl.

Could you take a look at the attached file to see if I'm missing something?

Now I deleted all the br tags characters in the iw_send_email.ipl that way the generated html will not have them and I still get the same issue

I am sure, you must have backed up your iwsend_mail.ipl before editing it. i would suggest replacing the ipl file back to original and replace the < br > tag
with space (" ") and see how the html is rendered.

I tried diff ways, but couldn't make it show proper in this editor, may be some one can help here.

As mentioned - you should make a copy of the iwsend_mail.ipl before editing it - and you should probably make sure that all

<br />

with

<br />\n

and see if that resolves the issue. Also if you have tables - make sure to insert either literal or symbolic (

-- if it's within a Perl

statement) newlines between rows or even cells of the table.
