Running a simple JSP program within UITK

Hi,
I have added a custom menu under the "Actions" menu. I like to run a simple JSP program on the server when the menu is selected.

How do I run a simple jsp program from this custom menu.

Write a simple

.jsp

file an keep it with

content_center/customer_src/web

folder. Now call this file in the added custom menu (might be

ui_custom.xml

) in url attribute. Like

url="/customer/test.jsp"

.
Now run the

make_toolkit.ipl

to get effect.

is this solution working?

it is not working for me. i put sample web app under custom_src/web, i update web.xml and i can see that the sampe web app is in customer.tk.war. invoking using /customer/servleturl, i also tried to just put sample.jsp under customer_src/web/ and tried to use /customer/sample.jsp but i get 404 error for the jsp page. and class not found for the servlet. of course i run maketool.ipl and install_webapp.ipl with and without -jsp_precompile.

any ideas how to run a web app along with teamsite?

Try this:

1. Place your JSP at customer_src/web/ccpro/simple.jsp.
2. Make toolkit.
3. Open your browser and hit this URL: http://your-teamsite-server/iw-cc/ccpro/simple.jsp

thanks! that worked to pull up the simple.jsp with static content but of course it didnt work with a jsp page that is importing other packages.

the challenge now is to get my sample web app to work on teamsite.
at first, i tried to do things the way i added my custom java classes for the workflows so i packaged my web app to SampleWebAPP.war and copied it to custom_src/lib then updated web.xml (with com.customTools.SampleServlet) and ui_custom.xml to pull up the sample servlet from the sample web app, and that didnt work because tomcat couldnt find: com.customTools.SampleServlet

i tried copying my "SampleWebApp" project folder and placing it under custom_src/web/ and that also didnt work.

my SampleWebapp package folder looks like this:
SampleWebAPP
-src
---com
-----customTools
-------SampleServlet
--------...
-web
---WEB-INF
------...
----index.jsp
-dist
-build ....

my next thing to try is to copy the java classes (servelt) under custom_src/src and web assets under custom_src/web and modify custom_src web.xml.

but what would my src package name be? customer.com.customTools or just com.customTools?

would that be good idea?

i dont like it because i would rather to just upload packages (.war) to teamsite instead of individual files and assets, because it will be easy to manage and control...

Do you really want a new webapp (outside of ContentCenter)??? Or you just want to extend some UI features within CC?

i want to run a small webapp (a jsp page and a servlet) on the same tomcat instance teamsite is running on. and i want to make this webapp available thru a tab in teamsite.
it is new webapp, but not outside CC. it is not exactly extending CC GUI but it will be adding functionalities to teamsite app.

this web app doesn't interact with teamsite in any way, but i want it to run with teamsite so i wont have to install a saperate app server and it will be convinient for the user to access thru a tab.

When you said the war method wouldn't work, did it fail when you tried to build? or when yuo tried to access the page? Is it failing from the reference to your custome servlet in custom_ui? what if you referenced a jsp page which is in the curstomer_src/web and from within the page referred to your servlet?

If you were going to put the custom source files under customer_src i think com.customTools or com..customTools is the way to go.

If this is to be an application to run within TeamSite and nowhere else, maybe it should be full managed within customer_src

i already got this working. the build and everything was correct.

the only thing i was missing is the right url to call the servelt. the documentation says to set /sampleServlet in web.xml as servlet url then call the servlet with /sampleServlet. where they should have said "/iw-cc/samplaServlet".

Yea, a lot of the interwoven document tells you about how to build it. But they don't go into any detail about how to go about invoking it.
