EvenSubSystem DB Migration

I am on TS 6.5 SP2 on Windows, I was wondering if any one have done Event Subsystem DB migration from One SQL server to an other, I also want to know if EventSubsystem DB is compatible with SQL 2008 DB (Currently it is on SQL 2005). What are pros and cons of doing this?

1. I do not think SQL2008 is supported yet. It took a while for 2005 to get supported. & it will likely never be supported on 6.5

2. Do you mean changing the DB or do you want to move all data from one to another ? Changing to a fresh DB should be pretty easy. Update jmsconfignew.xml and run the appropriate SQL to build the DB tables needed. They are in iwhome/eventsubsystem/conf/dll

One would think you could move the DB from one server to another but I do not know anything about that

We are not planning to upgrade our TS anytime soon, so if 2008 SQL is not supported then we might stick with 2005 SQL.

Yes Thank you for mentioning the Event Sub Sytem creation on new server. i can do that, but isn't that we will loose something if we do not copy the old tables to the new db server? I think we will not loose anything, since Event Subsystem is basically a reporting tool rather than carrying any content in it.

But again, can't i try creating Eventsubsystem db on SQL 2008 and try to start my service on TeamSite? will it blow up anything? I can run the same sql queries to create the table on 2008, from SQL stand point it will let me do that.

If you lose the data then search may not be accurate. Not a huge loss, but a pain nevertheless.

I have no idea about trying 2008. The JDBC drivers changed from 2000 to 2005 and I would imagine they changed again (knowing MS). But if the drivers are identical and the SQL works you can try it. You are correct you will not break anything. Worst case you put the 2005 config back.

So I will be good if i stick with TS 6.5 and SQL 2005.
I have an other TS server which has a SQL 2000 backend, I will migrate that one to 2005.

Where can find the new sql files which i need to run which are compatable to 2005?

are you sure that you've got data in event db?
from my experience if events are not consumed, then they're pretty much garbage.
