External task in java

Hi All,

I have q query.
Till now , i used perl scipt in my external task.But there is way to run jsp in my external task.
Could any body guide me how we can run jsp in external task like wher I should keep my jsp and how to run it.

I am using TS 6.5 sp2.

It seems you are asking in terms of WFT.
You are using TS 6.5 sp2 and i don't know it is as compatible as newer version.

I would suggest you first go through the customization guide. Because calling a JSP file may have to follow customization process i.e. run build (make_toolkit.ipl).

Perhaps I'm misinformed - but JSPs tend to be used for user-interactive dynamic web site pages mostly, yes?

Externaltask scripts are non-interactive, as such I don't think JSPs make much sense - though I suppose you could write a JSP that was non-interactive and use a URLtask (as opposed to Externaltask) for it.

You are correct. Generally speaking, if it is an external task (not a URL or CGI task) in Java then you do not need a JSP -- a simple Java class/bean should suffice.

Back to the original question, please look at the UI customization guide. It outlines the whole customer toolkit concept and that'll tell you where to place your custom JSPs/Java classes. Post any specific questions that you may have after going through that and having tried out a few things.
