How to insert values into custom fields

Have searched forum and must be man looking, but I cannot see any method that allows you to insert a new value into a custom field e.g. custom1, custom4 etc.

I can retrieve the values but not sure how to add a value and the COM reference doesn't seem to have an example either.
Any help appreciated.

You would need to use the IManAdmin.dll to add new values.
