<inline> inside FormAPI

Hi,

Can we user inline inside formAPI,the requirement is that if user select one of the 4 radio buttons ,a multiselect box should come based upon that selection ,
we are using an inline to populate that multiselect box to call an ipl file which in turn gets the data from database ,the multiselect is working correctly as standalone in some other dcr

i can trap the radio selection event using onItemchange and use IWItem.getValue () to get the index of the radio button selected but the inline part doesnt seem to work ,

is there a way through which on a radio button selection (through formAPI) we can get a multiselect box whose data is getting populated from an ipl call which in turn calls DB ?

looking forward for some guidance from experts?

Take a look at IWDatacapture.callServer (url, data, isGet) Method

Yep, inline is executing during the render or the form.

If you want to update a selection depending on a choosen radio button, you must use the IWDatacapture.callServer("/iw-bin/xxxxx.ipl", params, false);
This will call an URL that will update the form selection with a bunch of javascript.

Or you may also generates the 4 selections using inline during render of the form and hide them. Then you display the good selection when you click on the radio.

actualy ,i just started implementing the second approach which seems to be much easier

but a problem is occuring in that ,

in my main DCT there is an inline call to the component DCT and inside that component DCT i am writing [php]

[/php]
which is call to the multiselct data population script

now a blank multiselect box is appearing with the label when we use it inside a component DCT getting called from main dct using inline command but its working correctly(data is getting populated from DB) when i use it as an item in main DCT but we want to use it inside that component dct only

cant we use inline inside another inline (i m not sure if that is the correct way to put it?)?

FormsPublisher Parser uses "one pass" processing to deliver complete DCT structure. What it means is that if the
result of "outer" inline contains nested inline tag(s) the latter will not be evaluated.

If you need something like that, you may execute "Nested" inline script yourself within the "Outer" inline. Strip the result
out of 'substitution' Tag and inject it wherever needed into "Outer" inline output.

As you know, inline's command Script should generate valid DCT Fragment, wrap it up in <substitution> Tag and print into STDOUT.
The result can not contain another (nested) inline Tag! If you need it, you'd have to run nested inline script yourself and process
the output of the nested inline call.

Something like that:[html]# This is the fragment of the "Outer" inline Script. We need the result of another inline included into it. So:

# 1. Run inner (nested) Inline script.
# qx Parameter is what you would originally use as a command attribute Value for this Script
