OD issue (Multitiered deployment)

I have a set up where in I am doing open deploy from a OD servers (from Teamsite) to 2 different web servers simultaneously. The OD is successful on one of the servers (SERVER 2), but fails on another (Server 1). I checked the OD logs on the web server where its fails. Its gives an error:

Can not start next-tier deployment
******************************************

In the deployment configuration file which is called from the ipl file via command iwodstart has the following entry for 2 web servers:

Please find the configuration entries in the attachment.

*********************************************

What I could make out is that OD on server 1 is failing because it has the attribute "invokeOnsucess="yes" in the nextDeplyment tag. And if it happens to be the case if one deployment fails on Server 1, then next would never be successful. One of the deployment failed on server 1 few days back.

On server 2, this attribute is not present and OD is working fine for this server.

I have removed this attribute also from the server 1 entries, still it does not work. Does it require a server restart?

Can any one help on this.

that doesnt sound like multitier deployment. if it is not multitier then attribute invokeOnsucess should not be set to "yes'.

Anyways, does "invokeOnsucess" attribute has any default value, if not specified?

I'm assuming that the snippet of deployment configuration code you posted is not quite complete, because the targetRules element is unclosed.

You have a 'nextDeployment' clause defined for both nodes (server1, server2) - however nextDeployment implies that the node (server1, server2) is a Base Server that can perform a "next deployment" after receiving "this deployment", and the deployment configuration file "ODHOME/conf/MyFile.xml" (based on what you posted) needs to already exist on both server1 and server2 as well.

If neither of these nodes (server1 and server2) are Base Servers - please try removing the entire "nextDeployment" clause from your node specifications and try running the [main] deployment again.

If one of these nodes is a Base Server and the other isn't - try removing the "nextDeployment clause from the node specification that is not a Base Server and try the [main] deployment again.

If both of these nodes are Base Servers - make sure that the MyFile.xml deployment config file exists in ODHOME/conf on both servers before trying the [main] deployment.

If this is the only issue in the deployment, you should not need to restart either of the servers (Base or Receiver) - unless there are hung deployments there.

IF you can check the deployment log files for this specific deployment in the
server 1 , you should be able to narrow down the problem.
